The Budućnost Bemax basketball team is set to travel to Celje tonight for the WABA League final tournament this weekend (March 29th and 30th). Alongside the hosts, who have claimed the title in Podgorica for the past three seasons, the top two teams from Bulgaria—Beroe and Montana—also secured their spots in the finals.

As per the draw, the semifinals will feature Celje versus Beroe, and Budućnost Bemax competing against Montana.

The Podgorica team’s delegation will depart for Celje late tonight, with a training session scheduled for tomorrow before their match against Montana on Saturday at 15:30. Montana recently clinched the Bulgarian Cup just days prior.

The “Vučice” are determined to make it to the finals again, despite Budućnost rejuvenating their roster this season.

“We have reached the final stage, and now the most exciting part begins: the final four. Considering that each of the three competing teams has three foreign players, along with many experienced athletes and national team members, and this being the first season with a single-league format instead of a group stage, it’s clear that we can expect one of the strongest final tournaments in recent years. We anticipate a great spectacle with four high-quality teams,” remarked Petar Stojanović, the Podgorica team’s coach.

The young coach remains focused solely on the upcoming match against Montana, setting aside thoughts of the second day of the tournament.

“Montana is an outstanding team that has demonstrated significant skill throughout the season. They are experienced and well-equipped at all positions, so we are expecting a tough match. However, I believe we have prepared well, trust my players, and am confident we will put on a great performance,” Stojanović emphasized.

The match between Budućnost Bemax and Montana is scheduled for Saturday at 15:30, while Celje will face Beroe at 14:30. The third-place match will take place on Sunday at 17:00, followed by the final at 18:00.
