The Municipality of Zeta is commemorating Victory Day over Fascism and Europe Day on May 9th in Golubovci. Alongside the announcement of the occasion, they have also shared a visual depicting the event, which includes two tricolor flags but notably lacks the national flag of Montenegro.

According to a statement released by the local Secretariat for Local Self-Government and Social Activities, the Municipality of Zeta is organizing the festive event to express the local government’s dedication to “preserving the achievements of anti-fascism, enhancing awareness of European integration values, and promoting a shared European future.”

“This significant date is celebrated in alignment with the Law on Culture, which endorses creative freedom and respect for cultural rights. It reflects the commitment of both state and local governments to support and promote the growth of cultural and artistic endeavors, safeguard and maintain cultural heritage, advance the cultural system in line with international standards, and ensure efficient, rational, and creative cultural management, promoting transparency and cultural values while fostering an open and democratic society,” they stated.

The celebration of Europe Day as part of this event is included in the larger “Municipalities for the EU” initiative launched by the European House, aimed at supporting local governments in implementing programs that focus on European values and integration.

“The Municipality of Zeta has actively taken part in this initiative, reaffirming its dedication to promoting anti-fascist and democratic principles,” the announcement indicates.

The event is scheduled for Friday, May 9th, starting at 20:00, at Trg Anova in Golubovci.

“The program will showcase notable artists from Montenegro and the region, including Ivana Žigon, Milica Dosković, Aleksandra Vojvodić, Jovana Todorović, Anđelija Prenkić, the singing society ‘Svetosavnik’ from Podgorica, along with the Cultural and Artistic Society ‘Slobodan Aligrudić’ from Zeta. A special guest from Russia will also contribute to the evening. The program will feature musical, theatrical, and poetic segments to honor remembrance, unity, and democracy,” the announcement elaborates.
