“Welcomed Fatherhood and Hit the Goal in Three Consecutive Matches”

Since May of last year, Viktor Đukanović has experienced a significant journey, culminating in a transformative April…

The Montenegrin athlete embraced fatherhood at just 22, scoring his first goal after a break of 10 months and 10 days, and he hasn’t looked back since.

This promising talent is now making waves as a key player for Dunajska Streda, finding the net in three consecutive matches.

His Slovak football debut was against Podbrezova, followed by a goal against reigning champions Slovan, and he capped it off with the fastest goal of the Nike League this season, a stunning strike just 37 seconds into the game against Košice.

It was nothing short of spectacular.

“I’m thrilled about the goals, but what’s more important is that I contributed to the team’s success,” Djukanović shared with the club’s television.

The young player from Nikšić made the move from Buducnost to Hammarby, catching the attention of teams in Sweden, but an ill-fated transfer to Standard Liege left him largely sidelined. His subsequent switch to Slovakia appears to be the right choice at last.

“I definitely feel better now, but I’m aware that I haven’t reached my full potential yet. My previous situation was complicated, and I couldn’t grasp why I wasn’t playing at Standard. My goal now is to advance gradually to my peak performance,” Đukanović emphasized.

Dunajska Streda has been a remarkable platform for one Montenegrin player, Nikola Krstović, who also previously faced challenges at Red Star and is now thriving in Serie A.

“Nikola and I communicated frequently; I asked for his take on moving to Dunajska Streda, and he was very supportive. We’ve had contact through the Montenegrin national team before,” Đukanović recounted.

What can fans anticipate from Viktor in the upcoming matches?

“I prefer not to make predictions. While my performance matters, the team’s success and victories are my top priorities, so I aim to contribute to the team first,” he stated.

Ultimately, one question that didn’t seem pertinent to Đukanović was about the Champions League winner.

“I hope it’s Barcelona,” he concluded.

His resurgence will undoubtedly please the “Falcon” coach Robert Prosinecki as they prepare for the upcoming match against the Czech Republic in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
