Europe Day serves as a reminder of the core values that underpin modern Europe: solidarity, cooperation, freedom of movement, and the exchange of ideas and knowledge, stated the President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatović.

On May 9th, marking Europe Day, he engaged with young individuals participating in the Erasmus program as students.

Milatović highlighted that the Erasmus program is a remarkable opportunity for young people to connect, gain new knowledge, and valuable experiences.

He noted that Erasmus is not just an educational initiative but also a symbol of a united Europe—one without borders, founded on mutual values, solidarity, and understanding.

In this context, the President’s Office announced that Milatović stressed the significance of such programs in “promoting European values among youth,” fostering open-mindedness, collaboration, and active participation in shaping a common European future.

He shared his own experience as a former participant in the Erasmus program, emphasizing how it significantly influenced his personal and professional growth.

Milatović further stated that education is the bedrock of any society aiming for progress and success and identified young people as the most invaluable asset of our nation. He underscored that their education and active social participation are crucial for building a brighter future for Montenegro.

He encouraged young people to pursue their education, engage socially, and actively contribute to their community’s development. He emphasized the importance of recognizing both their responsibilities and the opportunities available to them, stating that “through these processes, they shape not only their future but also that of Montenegro and Europe as a whole.”

During their discussion, various challenges faced by young people in Montenegro were addressed, along with potential improvements to the education system and socio-economic environment.

Milatović expressed confidence that young individuals, armed with knowledge and experiences from programs like Erasmus, would increasingly engage in Montenegrin society’s development and contribute to reinforcing democratic values in our country, as stated.
