“Progress is Visible, But There’s Much More to Achieve”
The Montenegro men’s handball team held its inaugural training session this evening as they begin preparations for two friendly matches against Greece.
The “Lions” are set to face the Heleni on January 10 and 11 in Thessaloniki, with training taking place in Podgorica until those dates.
Tonight’s first training session commenced with a moment of silence in remembrance of the tragedy in Cetinje.
“I extend my heartfelt condolences to all the families affected by the tragic events in Cetinje,” remarked coach Didije Dinar.
Montenegro will compete against the Greeks with a mixed squad.
“This gathering is an opportunity to evaluate some new players. There are aspects we need to improve. Stefan Čavor wasn’t present in November, and we have fresh faces on both the left and right wings. Naturally, there are details stemming from our matches against Finland and Slovakia that require attention,” stated the renowned French coach.
One critical area identified for development is defense.
“Certainly, we need to focus on that, but ultimately our goal is to secure victories. We made significant defensive improvements in our last game, with a noticeable reduction in player crossings compared to previous matches. Progress is evident. Unfortunately, when the national team assembles, time is limited for making adjustments, and there’s always a sense of urgency,” Dinar elaborated.
