Starting tomorrow until September 15th, the traffic of buses, campers, and trucks with a maximum permissible weight over 7.5 tons will be restricted on certain sections of regional roads, as announced by the Police Directorate.

The Acting Director of the Police Directorate issued an order based on the Law on Road Traffic Safety, due to the anticipated increase in traffic on select roads, implementing a temporary ban on the movement of freight vehicles, buses, and campers.

The police clarified that trucks exceeding a weight of 7.5 tons will be banned from tomorrow until September 15, operating daily from 10 PM to 1 PM on the regional road Kotor – Trojica (intersection with M-25), from Kotor municipality to Krstac (intersection with RXNUMX), within the Cetinje municipality.

Furthermore, this ban will also apply on the R-29 road, stretching from the section Bar 2 (“Ćafe” tunnel, intersection with M-1) in Bar municipality to the Kamenički most – Krute (intersection with M-1) in Ulcinj municipality.

Additionally, M2 and M3 category buses (including light and heavy buses and vans) as well as campers will be restricted from tomorrow until September 15 on parts of the R-1 regional road, from the town of Krstac (intersection with R25) in Cetinje municipality to the town of Trojica – Kotor (intersection with M-1) in Kotor municipality, heading from Njeguša to Kotor.

The police indicated that bus and camper traffic will likewise be forbidden on the R-29 road, from Bar 2 (“Ćafe” tunnel, intersection with M-1) in Bar municipality to the Kamenički most – Krute (intersection with M-1) in Ulcinj municipality, in both directions, with the exception of buses engaged in public city passenger transport.

Moreover, bus and camper vehicles will not be able to use the R-25.1 road, from the Međuvršje – Lovćen section, traversing from the parking area to the Mausoleum, in both directions.

The announcement outlines that from June 15 to September 15, between 5 PM and 10 PM, freight vehicles with a maximum permissible weight exceeding 7.5 tons will not be permitted on the main routes including M-1, connecting the border crossing (BP) Debeli Brijeg – Herceg Novi – Kotor – Tivat (Krtolska intersection) – Budva – Bar – Ulcinj – BP Sukobin, and M-2 from Podgorica to Sotonići – Petrovac.

The police noted that the ban for these trucks will also commence from June 15 on the main roads connecting Podgorica – Mioska – Kolašin, as well as Podgorica – Cetinje – Budva.

According to the police, the restriction does not apply to vehicles prioritizing access for road maintenance, PTT installations, roadside assistance, special vehicles for transporting animals, concrete, asphalt mass, refrigerated trucks for perishable goods, and water transport vehicles.

“This also includes vehicles transporting dangerous goods on the section of the M-1 highway from the Debeli Brijeg border crossing through Herceg Novi and Kamenari to the Lipci roundabout,” the statement adds.

The police emphasized they will implement measures to prevent the formation of traffic jams caused by trucks once the ban ends, a situation often seen in previous years.

“Officers will manage the entry of trucks into the traffic to ensure a gap of several minutes between each entry, reminding truck drivers to maintain the mandated distance between vehicles,” the statement concluded.
