The Montenegrin police executed searches across both southern and northern regions of the country, leading to the confiscation of 12 firearms, as reported by the Police Directorate (UP).

According to the announcement, four locations yielded five pistols, seven rifles, and various ammunition types and calibers.

“Officers from the Bar Security Department, in collaboration with Ulcinj Security Department officers, conducted searches at two sites in Ulcinj, resulting in the seizure of firearms and ammunition. At the residence and auxiliary structures of S.Đ. (56), a pistol lacking proper documentation, along with seven rounds of ammunition and five hunting rifles—two of which were also undocumented—were discovered. S.Đ. has been charged with a misdemeanor under the Weapons Law, with the weapon confiscated for further legal proceedings,” the statement reveals.

Additionally, the Petnjica police searched the family residence of Š. O. in that municipality, where they confiscated two pistols, a rifle, a starting pistol, an optical sight, and 35 rounds of ammunition.

“The state prosecutor from the Basic State Prosecutor’s Office in Berane has been notified of the situation and will provide a legal assessment after necessary expert evaluations,” the statement continues.

“During a routine check on BJ (49) in Berane, officers from the Berane Security Department discovered a box containing 47 rounds of illegal pistol ammunition on his person. BJ was taken to the Emergency Center, where tests confirmed he had cocaine in his system. A search of BJ’s family residence and auxiliary facilities in Berane uncovered a pistol with an altered factory number, six rounds of ammunition, and an unbranded air rifle, all in illegal possession,” the report states.

“The state prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor’s Office in Berane has been informed of this incident, and under their directive, the confiscated weapons and ammunition will undergo expert examination. Police will subsequently file criminal charges against BJ for suspected illegal possession and carrying of weapons and explosives. In a bid to detect, suppress, and prevent violent crimes and misdemeanors, while safeguarding lives, legal order, and citizen safety, the Police Administration plans to maintain intensified coordinated activities nationwide,” the UP statement concludes.
