Today, Ivan Ašanin announced his verbal resignation as Vice President of the Municipality of Mojkovac.

This announcement was made during a session of the Mojkovac Municipal Assembly (MA).

He did not submit a formal written resignation, which means the resignation remains unofficial.

The resignation was not included in the agenda of a session that was adjourned due to a lack of quorum.

Ašanin informed “Vijesti” that as of today, he is “essentially not the vice president of the Municipality,” and that this will be officially recognized at the next Municipal Assembly session.

He stated his resignation was motivated by his unwillingness to share in the responsibility for the stalled development projects in Mojkovac.

Previously, he had requested the status of development projects in the Municipality of Mojkovac be added to the session agenda.

According to him, there has been a halt in development initiatives in Mojkovac, along with unfulfilled project promises that have not been prioritized in either the state or local budgets.

By resigning, he aims to “dissociate himself from this situation and from a dysfunctional local government, especially noted over the past year.”

Ašanin shared with “Vijesti” yesterday that he has “frozen his membership in the Civic Movement URA.”

Marko Janketić, President of the Mojkovac Municipal Assembly, told “Vijesti” that Ašanin’s initiative regarding the status of development projects could not be included in the local parliament session due to non-compliance with the required format and deadlines.

However, Janketić assures that the status of development projects will be addressed in the upcoming session of the local parliament.

The initiative to review the status of development projects in Mojkovac was supported by representatives from several political groups within the local government.

The Mojkovac local government consists of the coalition For the Future of Mojkovac, Democratic Montenegro, Civic Movement URA, United Montenegro, and We Will Not Leave Mojkovac, holding 17 out of 31 councilor seats.

Opposition councilors from the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) did not attend today’s local parliament session.
