Over €400,000 Allocated for the Reconstruction of “Ivan Vušović” School in Nikšić

The Minister of Education, Science and Innovation, Anđela Jakšić Stojanović, alongside the U.S. Ambassador to Montenegro, Judy Rising Reinke, recently visited the “Ivan Vušović” Elementary School located in the Vidrovan neighborhood of Nikšić.

During the visit, they showcased the outcomes of a collaborative school reconstruction project funded by the U.S. Embassy in Montenegro, in partnership with the Office of Defense Cooperation (ODC) and the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation.

The construction expenses are covered by the USA, while the Ministry contributes funds for project documentation, oversight, and additional works necessary for the facility’s complete functionality that are not part of the donation.

“The project encompassed various works, including the replacement of both interior and exterior joinery, a comprehensive reconstruction of the bathrooms, alterations of electrical installations, as well as painting and decoration tasks. Upon the school’s request, a procedure is currently underway to approve an additional donation to replace the sports surface in the gym, thereby completing the facility’s reconstruction,” announced the Ministry.

The total investment surpasses 400,000 euros.

“This significant investment is the outcome of a robust partnership and enduring cooperation with the U.S. Embassy, which consistently aids in enhancing educational infrastructure in Montenegro. We are thankful for this support, which positively impacts the quality of education and the experiences of children in schools. The reconstruction of the ‘Ivan Vušović’ school is a component of the Ministry’s extensive investment cycle aimed at ensuring safer, modern, and more engaging learning environments throughout Montenegro,” stated Minister Jakšić Stojanović.

“The United States is committed to the belief that Montenegro’s future rests in the hands of its youth, and we take great pride in supporting the renovation of the Ivan Vušović Elementary School. This project symbolizes our dedication to empowering future generations through education. As a NATO ally, Montenegro plays a vital role in our collective security, and we are honored to assist in shaping a brighter future,” remarked Ambassador Reising Reinke.
