Officers from the Border Police Sector, in collaboration with Customs Administration agents, apprehended two Turkish nationals, TC (27) and EK (29), suspected of trying to smuggle MA (19), another Turkish citizen. Additionally, criminal charges have been filed against Russian national ARZ (37) for document forgery, as reported by the Police Administration (UP).

The Border Police Sector and Customs Administration officials conducted operations aimed at detecting, preventing, and combating cross-border crime. At two border crossings—Božaj and Dračenovac—they uncovered a human smuggling case involving two individuals concealing a third person in a vehicle, while separately, a border official handled a case of forge documents.

During this operation, two suspects were detained at the Božaj Border Crossing after pretending to smuggle a third individual. A criminal complaint was also filed against the person using forged documents at the Dračenovac Border Crossing. The incident occurred late on the night of April 25, 2026. Around 8:50 PM, border police checked TC (27) driving a VW Polo with Montenegrin plates and EK (29), a passenger who holds temporary residence in Montenegro. During a vehicle search, a young male was found hidden in the luggage compartment under a blanket. Custom and police officers extricated him, later identifying him as MA (19), also a Turkish citizen.

Further investigations revealed that MA had been issued a misdemeanor order earlier that day for not registering his residence in Montenegro as required by law before he attempted to exit the country.

Later that day, around 5:00 PM, MA tried to re-enter Montenegro through the Sukobin Border Crossing but was denied entry. Subsequently, TC and EK are suspected of attempting to smuggle him into Montenegro that evening. The state prosecutor in Podgorica was notified about these events, instructing that information be gathered from all three individuals. Following the inquiry, TC and EK were detained on suspicion of illegal border crossing and human smuggling. They were presented to the relevant prosecutor, while MA was allowed to continue his journey with instructions to report to the state prosecutor’s office. The vehicle involved in the crime was temporarily confiscated.

At the Dračenovac crossing, ARZ (37), a Russian national, was stopped entering Montenegro while driving a Toyota Yaris with foreign license plates.

During the procedure, ARZ presented a driver’s license suspected of being forged, allegedly issued by the Russian Federation and valid until May 11, 2030. In a subsequent police investigation, ARZ admitted to purchasing the forged document via an application for 200 euros. The Basic State Prosecutor’s Office in Podgorica was informed, and charges were filed against ARZ for document forgery.

The Border Police Sector continues its efforts to detect and prevent all forms of cross-border crime, ensuring the security of state borders, citizens, and travelers, concluded the UP.
