The young falcons will face tough opponents at the historic European Championship for Montenegrin football, including the reigning champions Spain, host nation Romania, and Denmark. To add to the excitement, they will kick off the tournament.

Our youth national team, the first from Montenegro to secure a spot in a major competition, has been placed in Group A, as revealed during today’s draw.

Group B will feature Germany, England, the Netherlands, and Norway—powerhouses alongside the Scandinavian team that reached the semi-finals two years ago, indicating a favorable draw for Nenad Vukčević’s squad.

“I view Spain as the favorite in our group, while the rest are relatively equal in quality,” remarked Vukčević.

The schedule is also set, with our national team opening the Euro against Romania on June 13th at the “Arcul de Triumf” stadium in Bucharest.

Three days later, the “Falcons” will face Denmark at the “Rapid Đuleşti Arena,” with their final group stage match against Spain on June 19th in Ploiești.

Spain has claimed the championship title at this level nine times (2002, 2004, 2006, 2007, 2011, 2012, 2015, 2019, 2024), whereas Romania and Denmark have never progressed beyond the group stage—Romania has participated twice in the final tournament, while Denmark only once.

“I believe all groups are fairly balanced, with neither too easy nor too hard for us. Recently, I’ve observed the teams that joined us in the draw. What’s crucial is for our players to gain maximum playing time in their clubs, ensuring they are physically and mentally prepared for this tournament. If we replicate our performance from Georgia, I believe we can achieve a positive outcome,” Vukčević added.

The European Championship commences on June 13th, with the group stage concluding on the 20th. Following this, the top two teams will compete in the semi-finals on June 23rd, leading to the final scheduled for three days later.

Matches will be held in Bucharest (Rapid Giulești Arena and Dinamo Stadium), Ploiești (Ilie Oana Stadium), and Voluntari (Angel Jordanescu Stadium).

The final match will take place at the Rapid Đuleşti Arena.

Match Schedule

June 13: Romania vs. Montenegro, Arc de Triomphe – Bucharest

June 16: Denmark vs. Montenegro, Rapid Giuleşti Arena, Bucharest

June 19: Montenegro vs. Spain, Ilie Oana, Ploieşti
