Today, she received her Montenegrin passport, and in just two days, Armel Atingre, the new goalkeeper for our national handball team, will step onto the court for her debut against Serbia in the European Championship qualifiers.

“I am incredibly excited to begin this new chapter, and I truly believe that the fighting spirit of the Montenegrin team resonates with my own,” Atingre shared with RSCG.

A talented goalkeeper, Atingre was born in Ivory Coast 35 years ago and previously represented France, with her last game for that team being at the European Championship in 2014.

“I feel genuinely grateful that the state, my new teammates, and the coaching staff have welcomed me as a part of the Montenegrin national team. Their trust in me means everything, and I am eager for a successful start to this wonderful journey,” Atingre expressed.

In 2020, Atingre joined Budućnost Bemax from the Hungarian team Fehervar. Over her career, she has played for French clubs Ivry, Floris Loire, Isa Paris, and Nantes, as well as the Turkish team Ankara.

She was named the best goalkeeper in the French championship in both 2013 and 2014.
