The Italy-Montenegro Business Forum is set to take place in early summer.

The Government of Montenegro announced this following a meeting between Prime Minister Milojko Spajić and Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani in Rome.

“Prime Minister Milojko Spajić concluded his inaugural official visit to Rome with discussions with Deputy Prime Minister and Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, who reaffirmed the Italian Government’s strong backing for Montenegro’s European integration and the overall advancement of our nation. It was concluded that a business forum would be organized at the start of summer, following talks that Spajić had with Italian President Giorgio Meloni. Both parties acknowledged the existing opportunities for enhancing our economies and strengthening bilateral relations,” the statement read.

The Government noted that the meeting also addressed the security landscape in Europe, emphasizing the significance of aligning Montenegro with the Common Foreign and Security Policy of the European Union (EU), particularly regarding support for Ukraine.

“Montenegro’s stance is unambiguous. Our country stands as a dependable, credible, and predictable partner that can be relied upon,” stressed Spajić.

According to the government statement, in relation to the Western Balkans situation, Spajić remarked that the EU membership prospects and economic development are key stabilizing factors, with Montenegro aiming for membership during the Italian presidency in early 2028.

“The Italian Deputy Prime Minister expressed complete support for Montenegro’s aspirations, assuring that Italy will steadfastly accompany Montenegro on this journey. Tajani also extended an invitation to Prime Minister Spajić to join the upcoming Italophonia,” the government’s announcement concluded.
