The “Budvanska Riviera” hotel group has confirmed that the “Mogren” hotel in Budva is not for sale.
The state-owned company stated that remarks made by the owner of “Mercur,” Milan Mrvaljević, about a potential sale being arranged in conjunction with Svetozar Marović are “malicious and aimed at undermining the hotel group’s reputation.”
“Since 2021, the management of ‘Budvanska Riviera’ has been fully dedicated to legal and responsible management, along with investments to maintain our status as a leader in the Montenegrin and broader markets. In recent months, the Montenegrin public has observed numerous announcements regarding the refurbishment of the ‘Mogren’ hotel, aimed at returning it to full functionality and making it a prominent gathering spot in the exclusive Old Town area. Preparations for the hotel’s reconstruction—legal, technical, and otherwise—are well underway, and the residents of Budva and Montenegro will be updated accordingly. Therefore, Mr. Milan Mrvaljević’s claims regarding the sale of the ‘Mogren’ hotel and any connection to the convicted Svetozar Marović are mere populism and the realm of fiction.”
“Such misleading statements from the owner of ‘Merkur’ will not deter the management of ‘Budvanska Riviera’ from enhancing its business and accommodation offerings for the benefit of our guests and the citizens of Budva through strategic policies and planned investments. We want to remind everyone that starting this summer, the ‘Slovenska plaža’ resort will undergo a complete renovation and upgrade to a 4-star standard, with the next project being the reconstruction of the ‘Mogren’ hotel—something that neither Milan Mrvaljević nor Svetozar Marović can influence or obstruct,” the statement concluded.
