“Sound Cannon at Parliament: Calls for Vučić’s Resignation”
The Party of Freedom and Justice (SSP) released a photo today depicting a police vehicle equipped with a sound cannon stationed in front of the Serbian Parliament building on Saturday, alongside a police unit. They have lodged a criminal complaint against President Aleksandar Vučić for terrorism against his own people.
The SSP has urged Vučić to step down.
“Aleksandar Vučić, you claimed yesterday that you would resign if Serbian forces deployed a sonic cannon. Since you appear to no longer occupy that role, now is your chance to honor that promise – resign as president. For once, be the true leader of the state,” declared SSP President Dragan Đilas during a news conference held in the Serbian Parliament.
He called on the republican prosecutor to take immediate action, warning that failing to do so would make them complicit in the alleged crime.
He further asserted that there is substantial suspicion that Vučić and the Serbian Progressive Party have “usurped sovereignty from the citizens, established authority against their freely articulated will, incited and engaged in political terror against the populace, and appropriated the institutions of Serbia.”
He stressed that numerous citizens at Saturday’s protest experienced hearing an intolerable sound and suffered its repercussions.
SSP Vice President Marinika Tepić indicated that the displayed photo is merely one of seven sound cannons owned by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, backing her claim with a document she explained as evidence.
She noted that under Interior Minister Aleksandar Vulin, the Ministry of Interior had ordered a total of 16 such devices of two distinct types, citing the companies and individuals involved in this procurement.
“This clearly shows that Vučić, Vulin, and Minister Ivica Dačić were planning violence, a terrorist act against citizens all along. The authorities misled the public by claiming that this device could only emit a single type of sound; in reality, it can replicate any sound. We will not cease our efforts to present these documents,” asserted Marinika Tepić.
