In their opening match at the World Championship, the Montenegrin water polo team was heavily reliant on goalkeeper Petar Tešanović.
Tešanović stood out as the team’s top player, particularly during the penalty shootout where he successfully saved three shots from the opposing team.
He also added two saves during regular play, contributing to a thrilling final score of 16:15 and securing two points in the opening of Group C.
“The first game of any tournament is always challenging. It was clear we started off a bit sluggish, but we maintained our lead throughout and managed to defend during their final attack,” Tešanović remarked.
He further emphasized the importance of remaining grounded, stating, “There should not be any euphoria, as the championship has just begun.”
“Winning the first match is encouraging, but the group is tough, with strong teams like Serbia and Japan, and we still have a lot to prove,” Tešanović concluded.
