Perugia Secures Historic First Champions League Title
The volleyball players of Perugia have clinched the Champions League title for the first time in their history, triumphing over Aluron Varta from Zawiercie with a score of 3:2 (25:22, 25:22, 20:25, 22:25, 15:10) in the final held in Łódź last night.
The standout performers for Perugia were Wasim Ben Tara, who scored 22 points, Yuki Ishikawa with 20 points, and Oleh Plotnitsky contributing 18 points.
On the other side, Aaron Russell was the top scorer for Aluron Varta with 25 points, while both Mateusz Bieneck and Bartosz Kwolek chipped in with 12 points each.
In the match for third place, Jastębski Wegiel from Poland overcame Halkbank from Ankara with a score of 3:1 (25:22, 26:24, 20:25, 25:18).
