The spring edition of the Podgorica Bazaar is set to commence on Monday, May 5th, at Independence Square and will run until May 21st. The event will feature a rich cultural and entertainment program, alongside opportunities for local producers to showcase their work, as announced by the Capital City.
Dragan Grnović, the director of the Podgorica Tourist Organization, expressed optimism that both locals and visitors are excited for the event, especially since the New Year’s edition of the Bazaar was unfortunately canceled due to well-known circumstances.
“We’ve made adjustments to the criteria during the preparation of the Market with a focus on highlighting local producers, artisans, and craftsmen. We believe the Podgorica Market presents an excellent opportunity for them to showcase and sell their products,” Grnović stated. He noted that this year, 48 houses have been allocated through a public call, at no cost to the exhibitors. “The final list of tenants has been published, contracts will be signed today and tomorrow, allowing them time to prepare their offerings,” he added as per the Capital City’s statement.
Snežana Tomanović, Secretary of the Secretariat for Culture of the Capital City, highlighted that the entertainment program will include performers previously scheduled for the New Year’s market, as well as some fresh talent for the Podgorica audience.
“On the opening day of the Bazaar, May 5th, the Sarajevo band Hari Mata Hari will take the stage. On May 10th, the Delegation of the European Union to Montenegro will present a concert by the band Perper in honor of Victory Day, with Jelena Rozga performing on the same day. Following this, Tamara Todevska will perform on May 12th, Grupa Vatra on May 15th, Dejan Petrović and the Big Band on May 16th, Mostar Sevdah Reunion on May 17th, and the Spring Bazaar will conclude on May 21st with a performance by the Novi Sad band Frajle,” Tomanović announced.
Grnović believes that the Podgorica Tourist Organization laid a strong foundation for the spring edition of the Podgorica Bazaar through various events leading up to it, including “Flowers to Flowers,” “Easter in the Heart of Podgorica,” and the Montenegrin Manifesto. They also contributed to the World Water Polo League and showcased the Capital City’s offerings during the European Judo Championship.
“We anticipate a promising tourist year in 2025 and await April’s statistics, during which the city witnessed no available accommodation throughout the month,” he mentioned.
Apart from the Spring Bazaar, the Podgorica Tourist Organization is also backing other events throughout the Capital City. This month, attendees can look forward to the Podgorica Wine Salon on May 16th at the Capital Plaza center, featuring Tijana Bogićević. Additionally, an event titled “We All Dance; We Give Our Hearts with Dance” will occur on May 31st in collaboration with folklore ensembles, and the Off Road Summer Rally will take place on May 31st and June 1st at Ćemovsko Polje. Grnović concluded by encouraging all residents and visitors to partake in the many upcoming programs in the capital.
