Police in Budva detained a 37-year-old Turkish national, identified as AK, after he attempted to evade a traffic patrol and offered a bribe of 150 euros, according to an announcement from the Police Directorate (UP).
“On April 22, 2025, around 3 AM, traffic police attempted to stop a car with Bar license plates that was traveling from Bečići towards Kotor. However, the driver ignored a clear STOP signal given by the police and continued driving. The officers pursued the vehicle with lights and sirens, ultimately stopping it near Vidikovac for further inspection,” the statement details.
During the inspection, the driver was identified as AK, and it was revealed that he was operating the vehicle without a valid driver’s license or vehicle registration.
“At that time, AK refused to undergo a test for the presence of psychoactive substances. To evade further scrutiny and prevent official testing for narcotics, he attempted to bribe the officers with 150 euros,” the UP noted.
Consequently, AK was arrested for violating the Road Traffic Safety Act, and a competent misdemeanor judge subsequently imposed a fine of 2,000 euros.
“As part of their duties, officers from the Budva Security Department reported the incident to the state prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor’s Office in Kotor, leading to AK’s detention on suspicion of bribery. He was then handed over to the prosecutor for further proceedings, who ordered a detention of up to 72 hours, along with a criminal report, within the legal timeframe,” the UP statement concluded.
