Matea Pletikosić has been excelling this season while playing for Korona Brasov in Romania, showcasing her exceptional skills against Serbia. She netted nine goals from ten attempts, brilliantly directing the game and playing a crucial role in Montenegro’s narrow victory (31:30), which secured their spot in the European Championship.
“We started the match strong and played as expected. We entered the second half a bit more relaxed, resulted in some mistakes and defensive failures, but the key takeaway is that we secured the win. I’m confident that we’ll approach the next game with even more eagerness, especially since it’s a home match. I believe the support we receive will motivate us,” remarked the 2-year-old player from Sinj.
Captain Marina Rajčić acknowledged the fluctuations in performance.
“We had a solid start, which made the second half easier for us. We made multiple errors in rebounding and defense, but we’ll rectify those issues for the upcoming game. I’m positive we’ll perform better on Sunday. The most important aspect is that we have practically secured first place in the group. It’s easier to address mistakes when we come off a win; now we can reflect calmly on areas for improvement.”
Ivana Godeč was understandably pleased with the victory.
“We were aware that Serbia would fight until the end and that the match wasn’t decided by halftime. We’re thrilled to have earned two points and hope to achieve another win this Sunday.”
