The Ministry of Health has condemned the unprofessional and unethical conduct of Dr. Vladimir Peruničić towards journalist Magdalena Čelanović. They anticipate that relevant institutions will conduct a thorough investigation of the situation and implement further actions.

In collaboration with the Administration of the Clinical Center of Montenegro (KCCG), the Ministry of Health plans to carry out an internal review of the incident.

“In response to the allegations of misconduct by healthcare professionals, the Ministry of Health categorically denounces any form of unprofessional and unethical communication, particularly directed at media representatives performing their duties in the public interest,” the Ministry stated.

The government department expressed full support for the positions articulated by the Medical Chamber and the KCCG concerning this matter.

The Ministry of Health highlighted the necessity of adhering to professional and ethical standards at all times.

“We expect the relevant institutions to meticulously investigate all aspects of this case and take appropriate actions in line with their authorities,” the Ministry added.

The Ministry noted that, in coordination with the KCCG Administration, an internal review will be conducted, and the public will be promptly informed of any findings and potential sanctions.

“Even though the incident transpired outside of working hours and off the healthcare facility’s premises, the expectations surrounding the professional and ethical conduct of healthcare workers remain in effect at all times,” stated the Ministry.

They underscored that any actions detrimental to the reputation of the healthcare profession are intolerable, emphasizing the necessity of consistently upholding professional and ethical standards, both during working hours and in public and digital interactions beyond official responsibilities.

“We urge all healthcare professionals to exhibit a high degree of responsibility, dignity, and professionalism in their interactions with citizens, including media representatives, to maintain public trust in the healthcare system,” the statement asserted.

The Ministry emphasized that healthcare professionals must serve as role models of responsibility, ethics, and respect for every individual, without exception.

“The Ministry of Health remains dedicated to the principles of open communication, transparency, and accountability,” the statement concluded.

The Ministry affirmed that safeguarding the rights of every citizen, including media personnel, is paramount and stressed that threats, intimidation, and unethical communication have no place in the Montenegrin healthcare system.

Health Minister Vojislav Šimun reaffirmed his commitment to fostering a safe, dignified, and professional atmosphere for all users and employees of healthcare institutions.
