A police officer from the Mojkovac DT Security Department struck a pedestrian in the center of Kolašin on Sunday, April 13th.

Testing revealed that the off-duty officer, who was driving a private vehicle, had a blood alcohol content of 2.69 g/kg at the time of the incident.

The judge imposed a fine of 1,200 euros.

According to the Police Directorate, the accident took place at Kolašin’s Fighter Square, and the woman who was hit was taken to the Kolašin Emergency Medical Service for assessment after the incident.

“Police officers from the Kolašin Security Department apprehended DT for breaching the Road Traffic Safety Act, as the test indicated a blood alcohol level of 2.69 g/kg. The quantity of the fine will be determined by the misdemeanor judge later. The prosecutor on duty at the Basic State Prosecutor’s Office in Kolašin has also been notified of the occurrence,” the police department stated.

They noted that a medical assessment indicated the victim sustained no injuries, while the acting state prosecutor will determine the potential classification of the criminal offense following further medical examinations.

“The Police Directorate will take any necessary actions concerning the DT officer once the acting prosecutor has commented on the incident. The Police Directorate will rigorously apply regulations and exercise its authority towards all citizens, offenders of criminal acts or misdemeanors, irrespective of their job roles,” the UP added.

According to the Basic State Prosecutor’s Office, DT was “taken into custody that same evening and brought before a magistrate in a summary procedure for driving while intoxicated.”

They clarified that “regarding the potential criminal offense, the prosecutor has yet to issue a statement as the victim reported no injuries during the initial assessment, but awaits further imaging test results.”

The duty prosecutor was not informed that the officer who caused the accident attempted to flee the scene.
