The last occasion Barcelona went without scoring was in mid-December, when Leganes halted their scoring run at Montjuic (1:0).
The Madrid-based team managed to keep a strong defense against a squad that had netted 83 goals over the previous 30 rounds, only conceding after an own goal by Jorge Saenz in the 48th minute (1:0).
With this victory, Barça continued their title pursuit, now sitting seven points ahead of second-placed Real, with a match in hand.
Flick’s squad created opportunities through Lamino Jamal and Fermin Lopes, while Leganes posed considerable threats as well.
In the first half, Borja Jimenez’s team looked particularly challenging, and Adria Altimira came close with a great chance.
Barcelona opened the scoring when Saens inadvertently netted an own goal while trying to intercept Rafinha’s pass to Robert Lewandowski.
Following this, Leganes had a significant opportunity, but Diego Garcia missed the target from an excellent position.
Barça has successfully navigated another challenge, awaiting results from Real (seven points behind) and Atletico (ten points behind) – Real faces Alaves away tomorrow, while the “colchoneros” host Valladolid on Monday.
