The Serbian parliamentary opposition has officially called for the creation of a transitional government today—an initiative referred to as the “Government of People’s Trust,” according to N1.

“Establishing a temporary transitional government is the only viable solution to navigate the crisis that has persisted since the canopy collapse in Novi Sad. Alongside our presence, non-parliamentary organizations ‘Kreni-promeni’ and ‘Proglas’ have also voiced support for this, indicating broad consensus on our path out of crisis,” stated Miroslav Aleksić, the president of the People’s Movement, during a press conference at the National Assembly.

Aleksić noted that the People’s Movement presented a draft concept for a transitional government on February 4th.

“Today, we have reached a significant level of agreement and a joint proposal, demonstrating functional collaboration among the opposition. The timeline for establishing the transitional government begins today, although we believe it effectively started earlier when Vučević resigned,” Aleksić remarked.

He emphasized that the current government has lost its legitimacy.

“The proposed Government of People’s Trust is tasked with ensuring essential conditions for the realization of student demands and facilitating fair and honest elections. Its term will be limited to a maximum of nine months and will focus on specific objectives,” Biljana Đorđević, an MP from the “Green-Left” Front, explained.
