Two Young Serbian Men Arrested for Attempted Smuggling; One Injured Leg While Fleeing Police

The border police in Rožaje apprehended HI (19) and a 17-year-old, both from Serbia, on suspicion of attempting to smuggle textile products.
According to the Police Directorate’s announcement, one of the detainees attempted to flee, resulting in a leg injury that required medical attention.
“Border police officers in Rožaje, in the area of Donja Crnca, performed a check on a Can-Am ATV without license plates that was coming from the direction of Serbia. During the stop, one individual attempted to escape and subsequently injured his leg, prompting medical assistance. The vehicle was being driven by a 17-year-old minor from Serbia, while HI (19), another Serbian citizen, was in the passenger seat,” stated the police.
An inspection of the rear compartment of the vehicle uncovered six PVC bags filled with a substantial quantity of textile goods valued at approximately 5,000 euros.
“Following a criminal investigation conducted in cooperation with the Rožaje Security Department, and under the authority of the prosecutor, the individuals were taken into custody on suspicion of committing the offense of smuggling,” the statement concluded.
