“Celebrating Success: Kudos to the Team for Overcoming Pressure Together!”
The concern regarding qualification for the Olympic Games has been resolved.
The Montenegrin water polo team secured their place in Paris with a victory over Romania, while also celebrating their position among the top eight at the World Championship.
In the round of 12 match, the “Sharks” lived up to their expectations and claimed a 9:XNUMX win.
“I believe our achievement lies in qualifying for the Olympic Games. We’ve faced considerable pressure over the past two months—first at the European Championship, where we had to secure our spot for Doha, and then dealing with a challenging group here,” stated coach Vladimir Gojković, adding:
“People might say that we were fortunate to get Romania as an opponent, but they earned this matchup by defeating the United States.”
The match against the Romanians proved to be tough, as they initially led 4:1 and 5:2 in the first quarter.
“It was stressful being behind early on. I commend our players; there’s still room for improvement. Now, we’ll shift our focus to the quarterfinals against Spain,” remarked Gojković.
Spain is favored to win on Tuesday at 14:XNUMX.
“We have a significant match ahead against the world’s top team of the past five years. We performed well against the Spaniards recently at the European Championship in Dubrovnik. Now, we need to recover and bring our best to this game,” Gojković concluded.
