The Montenegrin handball team kicked off the EHF week with a decisive win over Georgia in their first of two preliminary matches, ending with a score of 34:20 (19:11).

The second encounter, also against Georgia, is scheduled for tomorrow at 14:00 in the Verde Hall, under the guidance of Coach Vlada Šola.

Despite several national team members having participated in the European Championship, the “lions” demonstrated their superiority and cohesion as a team, even with a number of debutants on the court.

Coach Šola utilized 17 players during the match. Georgia took an early lead, but once the score reached 2:2, our team embarked on a 5:0 run, aided by three saves from Nebojša Simić.

This lead allowed Šola to grant playing time to debutants Milorad Bakić and Filip Krivokapić from Lovcen.

Although they had participated in the European Championship, the Georgian team struggled to penetrate our defense. They demonstrated good shooting skills; however, they faced the solid goalkeeping of Simić and the spirited Nikola Matović.

Notably, Captain Mirko Radović did not participate in the match, and Branko Vujović also did not make it onto the scoresheet. It was previously established that Vuk Lazović, Nemanja Grbović, and Vuko Borozan were sidelined for these games.

This opened opportunities for pivot Mihailo Šćekić and goalkeeper Haris Suljević to step in.

In the first of the two preparatory games against Georgia, crucial for consolidating and experimenting with tactics ahead of the World Cup playoffs in May, Luka Radović emerged as the top scorer for our team, netting eight goals, followed by Milorad Bakić and Stefan Čavor with four goals each. Debutant Krivokapić added three goals to his tally.
