The Findings Indicate We Remain the Dominant Political Party.

The leader of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) list in the local elections in Nikšić, Boris Muratović, stated that the results demonstrate their continued position as the strongest political party.
He mentioned that the Europe Movement is now “on a downward path” and criticized the Democrats, calling them “political puppets of Marko Kovačević.”
“Despite facing pressure and a formal campaign, we have shown that DPS is resilient. In June 2023, DF, PES, and the Democrats garnered 60 percent, while now they are below 50,” Muratović remarked.
He pointed out that they heard PES indicate that Kovačević would not be an effective mayor.
“We have made it clear that voting for PES and the Democrats equates to voting for Kovačević, and we will leave these political disputes to them. Kovačević is unworthy of leading this city,” Muratović added.
He asserted that he would demonstrate strength in the upcoming period.
“I am confident that, without imported voters, the citizens of Nikšić would manage to elect a government with dignity,” he concluded.
DPS Vice President Jevto Eraković commented that in every country, being first always indicates victory, and that their election result in Nikšić was commendable.
“The outcome for the DF should raise concerns; they are a threatening force aiming to undermine the civic spirit of Montenegro. We can see the results for all those cooperating with them, including URA, PES, and the downfall of the Democrats,” he stated.

Eraković further added that the results in Nikšić assure that DPS is on the right path.
“You may attack us, target us, and apply pressure, but this will serve as a positive indicator, and we will soon change the government at the state level,” he stated.
When asked about potential negotiations with PES and the possibility of giving them the mayoral position, he replied:
“The previous local elections demonstrated our capability to form a coalition, and we are open to discussions with anyone willing to share the principles of a civic Montenegro with us. However, we will not engage with those who undermine its foundations. Our primary position will be that the strongest candidate deserves the mayor’s position,” Eraković concluded.
