Following 26 rounds of the AdmiralBet ABA League, Budućnost Voli and Partizan find themselves tied at the top with identical records of 23-3.
Securing first place in the regular season ahead of the playoffs is crucial, and clarity around which team will enter the playoffs from this leading position will emerge on Monday (19) when the “blues” host Željko Obradović’s side in Podgorica for the 27th round.
Budućnost triumphed over Partizan in Belgrade (97:90) earlier this season, and unlike their rivals, they’ve had more time to prepare for this derby, a factor that could prove significant.
“This match will differ from our encounter in Belgrade. We’ll be playing in front of our home crowd, which is advantageous for us. I anticipate a tough and aggressive game with plenty of physical contact. I hope we come out on top,” stated Budućnost player Nikola Tanasković.
The winger from Podgorica emphasized that strong defense will be essential.
“Our defense could be the deciding factor since Partizan focuses heavily on offense. If we execute our defensive strategies well, I believe we stand a good chance. It’s crucial for us to limit their offensive rebounds and transition plays. Partizan boasts several talented individuals, so we must remain vigilant against all their players,” Tanasković explained.
A packed arena is anticipated, with Budućnost expecting substantial support from the fans.
“I expect a full stadium. I encourage our supporters to come and celebrate with us on Monday,” Tanasković concluded.
After this derby, Budućnost will travel to Krka, return to host FMP, and finish the regular season away against Dubai.
Meanwhile, Partizan will play against Red Star Belgrade, face Cedevita-Olimpija, and conclude their home schedule against Mega.
