Montenegro Luxury Hotels and Resorts from Kotor, along with CG Resort from Tivat, have filed a request seeking input on the necessity of creating an Environmental Impact Assessment Study for the Construction of a pedestrian and bicycle pathway, which will extend the existing promenade alongside the Tara River.

According to “Vijesti,” these investors will provide the project documentation and complete all administrative requirements to initiate the project’s execution.

The documents accompanying the request indicate that the extension of the pedestrian and bicycle routes will run near the hotels under construction by these companies in Kolašin.

“The Kolašin pedestrian and bicycle path will encompass numerous state-owned cadastral plots. The total length of the walkway measures approximately 2.07 kilometers and extends in a north-south direction. The initial path connects to the completed section adjacent to the Sports Center. The pathway begins with a bridge over a stream. While primarily located on an embankment, it will also feature several structural elements. The path remains aligned with the Tara River for its entire length,” the documentation elaborates.

This project is rooted in the vision of unifying the city into a cohesive green corridor, creating a space for sustainable sports and recreational use. The initiative aims to integrate the existing and planned promenades into a single united system.

The trail will traverse public land, along with sections of privately owned land designated for tourism development.

“To prevent infringing on private property and existing structures along the route while maintaining continuity, certain segments will enter the river corridor, with plans to establish them on piles as per the conceptual design,” the documentation outlines.

Due to the delicate river ecosystem and the dynamic nature of the Tara River, which alters its course seasonally, portions of the path are designed with structural elements in pile form, while embankment sections will serve as coastal fortification.

Furthermore, the design includes the construction of a botanical quay stretching 275 meters.
