Siniša Bjeković, the Protector of Human Rights and Freedoms, visited the Remand Prison to engage with detainees who requested direct communication.

The Directorate for the Execution of Criminal Sanctions reported that 186 detainees are currently on strike.

“As previously stated, all participants in the strike are under constant observation, and their health is being closely monitored by the Health Care Sector. We stress that the health condition of all detainees involved in the strike remains stable,” said UIKS.

They noted that, during this event, Siniša Bjeković visited the Remand Prison in Podgorica yesterday.

“Throughout the visit, the Protector of Human Rights and Freedoms conversed with several detainees who expressed a desire for direct communication to share their views and insights, which fall under the jurisdiction of the Protector’s institution. As part of ongoing efforts, the Administration for the Execution of Criminal Sanctions will continue to implement all necessary measures to safeguard the health of detainees while maintaining order and security,” they remarked.
