Nebojša Simić has been a Bundesliga standout for a considerable time, showcasing his class as a goalkeeper tonight against one of Germany’s major teams. Notably, he faced off against the squad that features the top player in Europe from last season, Simon Pitlik, along with the remarkable Swedish player, Jim Gotfridson…

The Montenegrin handball team’s goalkeeper recorded an astonishing 20 saves in the match where his team, Melsungen, drew with Flensburg—25:25.

In the first half at “Rotenbach Hall,” Simić impressively stopped three penalty shots from the northern German stars, amassing 12 saves by halftime. His efforts allowed Melsungen to head into the break leading 13:10.

Continuing his exceptional performance, Simić helped Melsungen fight fiercely in the second half, ultimately equalizing with a critical shot by Croatian Ivan Martinović just three seconds before the game concluded.

Martinović emerged as the most prolific scorer on the day, netting seven goals, matching the tally of Icelander Elvar Jonson, while Pitlik managed to score six times for his team.

Simić had previously delivered a similar impressive performance this season against Geppingham, with 21 saves.

Melsungen currently holds the fifth position in the Bundesliga, qualifying for European play, while Flensburg is in third but still trails significantly behind the second-place team leading to the Champions League.

The same teams will clash again on Saturday in the semifinals of the German Cup, with the final set to take place at the handball mecca, “Lanskes Arena,” in Cologne.
