My Players Have Finally Started to Engage with Each Other

Montenegrin water polo players secured their third victory at the World Cup qualification tournament and have advanced to the semi-finals in Otopeni, Romania.

The “Sharks” triumphed over the United States with a score of 15:7, leaving coach Dejan Savić pleased with their performance for the majority of the match.

“We began with an aggressive approach from the very start and largely maintained that intensity throughout the game, despite experiencing a slight drop in the final quarter,” Savić stated.

By the end of the first ten minutes, Montenegro held a commanding lead of 7:1.

“The Americans played without a traditional center, which didn’t make our task easier. However, the boys demonstrated that they could play excellent defense by being aggressive and communicating more effectively,” he added, highlighting the team’s improvement.

In the semi-final match set for Saturday at 18:00, Montenegro will face the winner of the matchup between Spain and Croatia.

“We’re continuing the tournament with our initial goal in mind—we focus on ourselves, striving to minimize mistakes and transform our weaknesses into strengths,” Savić remarked.

Miroslav Perković is optimistic about Montenegro’s progress:

“We’ve taken a step forward compared to our previous matches, and I believe this was the game with the fewest fluctuations. I’m glad we’re gaining experience and that our advantage is not a liability,” stated the New Belgrade center.

Nikola Moskov was the standout performer with four goals.

“It was an incredible match for us; we understood how crucial this game was. We adhered to the plan from the locker room, and the results followed suit,” concluded Moskov.
