The Gambling Authority has rejoined the Gambling Regulators European Forum (GREF), a respected organization that unites gambling regulators from over 25 nations.

“Renewing our membership in GREF was a primary objective for the Management this year regarding international initiatives,” the statement indicated.

Founded to enhance collaboration among regulators, GREF facilitates the sharing of best practices and the development of effective solutions for challenges faced in the gaming sector.

The organization prioritizes player protection, combating illegal gambling, promoting responsible gaming, and harmonizing regulatory standards across Europe.

According to the Gaming Authority, their GREF engagement will center on several focal points.

“Player protection is paramount, supported by initiatives aimed at promoting responsible gambling and minimizing the risks associated with gambling activities. Elevating regulatory standards through the exchange of best practices that inform European gambling standards is also vital,” the statement elaborated.

Additionally, they seek to bolster international cooperation by enhancing coordination and sharing experiences with regulators in other nations to refine the domestic regulatory framework and combat financial crime. This collaboration within GREF is expected to enhance mechanisms for preventing money laundering and other illicit activities in the gaming sector.

“Key areas include innovation and digitalization, along with education and training. Access to GREF resources and training programs will aid in the professional growth of personnel and the fortification of institutional capabilities,” the Administration stated.

Representatives from the Gaming Authority will take part in the annual GREF conference from May 26 to 28 in Athens.

“This conference presents a significant chance for knowledge sharing and networking with peers across Europe. The Acting Director, Spasoje Papić, will represent the Gaming Authority at this event,” the statement noted.

The renewal of GREF membership underscores Montenegro’s dedication to enhancing international collaboration and elevating gaming standards.

“We are committed to advancing these objectives with the backing of our international allies,” the statement concluded.
