The “Lionesses” triumphed over Paraguay (30:25) in Ulm. Their focus appears to be shifting towards the upcoming matches against Germany and Slovenia, which will determine who advances to Paris.

“It’s challenging to compete in matches where we’ve had less preparation, especially when their outcomes hold significant importance. The girls are already thinking about Saturday, which isn’t ideal. Perhaps teams like Norway can manage it, but we’re not there yet,” reflected coach Bojana Popović after the game.

From her comments, it seems there may have been a bit of an underestimation of their opponent, the sole underdog in Ulm.

“The Paraguayans play with resilience and determination. The very identity of the opponent can sometimes distract us in the Balkans from maintaining the right mindset and attitude as we do against stronger teams,” Bojana added.

The team will face Germany on Saturday, followed by Slovenia on Sunday—the two leading teams will secure their spots in Paris.

“Everything is fine, which is the key point, and we will prepare for the challenges that lie ahead this weekend. The real picture will emerge then, as we will witness European handball in action,” concluded Bojana.
