The European journey for the Adriatic teams resumes along the stunning Tyrrhenian coast after a three-month hiatus and two significant competitions.

The Montenegrin champions, who engaged in the Champions League during the first half of the season, are set to encounter one of the top contenders, Italy’s Savona, in the initial match of the Eurocup’s round of 16.

Tomorrow (Friday), the match will take place in the Gulf of Genoa at 19:00.

“I believe we have drawn the most formidable opponent from the eight teams that advanced to the round of 16 through the Eurocup group stage,” remarked Novljan’s coach, Petar Radanović.

The head coach of Jadran highlighted the strength of their Eurocup rivals by naming several key players on the Italian squad.

“They have numerous high-caliber players, including Pjetr Filjoli, center Lorenc Bruni, our own Bogdan Đurđić, and also Balaž Erdelji, Marko Vavič… We are certainly anticipating a challenging match,” emphasized Radanović.

Nevertheless…

“If we can endure the initial onslaught, withstand the first wave of pressure, and establish our own pace—avoiding physically demanding confrontations and focusing on our movement—I believe we can achieve a favorable outcome,” Radanović explained.

Captain Martin Gardašević expressed confidence in securing a victory in Savona.

“We face a match against an experienced team filled with national team members, but we’ve had ample time to prepare and study Savona. Naturally, we’re aiming for the win; I know the team is motivated and ready—we’re hoping for the best result,” said Gardašević.

Savona completed the group phase undefeated, competing against two Hungarian teams, Vašaš and Honved, as well as Greece’s Apollon. The only blemish on Albert Angelini’s squad was a narrow loss to Vaša (18:17) away from home.

The return fixture between Jadran and Savona is set for March 23.
