The police in Podgorica have apprehended an American citizen, identified as GDP (48), residing in the capital on allegations of possessing and utilizing forged documents.

According to the Police Directorate, a criminal complaint has been lodged against PT, suspecting him of committing the offense of document forgery in association with inducing false content certification.

It is alleged that GDP approached a parked vehicle with Budva license plates in Podgorica on April 8, removed the plates, and placed them on his Chevrolet, which previously had its own plates.

“Subsequently, GDP operated this vehicle within the territory of Podgorica and later in Kotor, where officers from the Kotor Security Department discovered he was using forged license plates,” the police stated.

During a routine check on PT, who resides in Podgorica, the police questioned the validity of a document he had presented.

“Upon examination of a travel document issued by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, discrepancies were noted in comparison to the original document, leading to the conclusion that it was likely a laminated copy. Following the collection of information from PT, officers suspected he was using this forgery as though it were genuine, despite being aware of its illegitimacy and lacking a valid travel document. The incident has been reported to the state prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor’s Office in Podgorica, who ordered criminal proceedings against PT for the suspected offenses of document forgery and inducing false content certification,” it was revealed.
