Slavko Stojanović, the former Director of the Police Administration, has been sentenced to a total of three years and eight months in prison for his involvement in cigarette smuggling and illegal weapon possession.

This first-instance judgment was delivered today by Igor Đuričković, a judge at the Higher Court in Podgorica.

During the proceedings, Stojanović acknowledged that, at the request of a friend, he instructed Enes Baković to allow a truck carrying approximately 120 cartons of cigarettes to pass. However, he did not disclose the identity of the friend who made the request.

Stojanović did not attend the court hearing; only his attorney, Miroslav Adžić, was present.

The court has revoked the previous restriction preventing Stojanović from leaving his home but has imposed a new requirement for him to report to the police in Podgorica on the 1st and 15th of every month. Additionally, he is prohibited from leaving Podgorica.

Throughout the trial, Stojanović admitted his guilt regarding the abuse of his official position related to the smuggling of cigarettes discovered in the truck and expressed remorse for his actions.

However, he maintained his innocence concerning the charge of illegal gun possession.

Stojanović faced charges for both abusing his official position and for illegal possession of weapons and explosives. Authorities suspect that his actions led to a loss of 112,504 euros to the state.
