Nebojša Simić has long been a standout in the Bundesliga, showcasing his exceptional goalkeeping skills tonight against one of Germany’s top teams, defended by last season’s best player in Europe, Simon Pitlik, and the remarkable Swede, Jim Gotfridson…

The Montenegrin goalkeeper made an astounding 20 saves in the match where his team, Melsungen, drew with Flensburg – 25:25.

In the first half of the match held at “Rotenbach Hall,” Simić denied three penalty shots from the Northern German stars and ended the first 30 minutes with 12 saves, allowing Melsungen to go into halftime leading 13:10.

Continuing his exceptional performance in the second half, Simić helped Melsungen secure a draw with a powerful shot from Croatian Ivan Martinović just three seconds before the final whistle.

Martinović was the top scorer in the match, netting seven goals, matching the Icelander Elvar Jonson, while Pitlik scored six for the opposing team.

Simić had a similarly remarkable display earlier this season against Geppingham, with 21 saves.

Melsungen currently sits in fifth place in the Bundesliga, within the European qualification zone, while Flensburg remains in third but is still a distance away from the second place that secures a spot in the Champions League.

The same teams will clash again on Saturday in the semifinals of the German Cup, with the final to be held in the handball epicenter, “Landskes Arena” in Cologne.
