The Civil Aviation Agency (CAA), which does not receive funding from the state budget, has allocated support totaling 65 thousand euros to the Mountain Rescue Service of Montenegro (GSS).

According to the Cooperation Agreement, the funds can only be used for operational readiness, training, and purchasing equipment.

“This substantial aid was provided to the GSS at the end of March, aiming to enhance efficiency for search and rescue operations in civil aviation, particularly in mountainous and hilly regions, as well as in any area where this service can be deployed,” the Agency stated.

They also highlighted their support for the Maritime Safety and Port Management Authority (UPSUL) this year, contributing 200 thousand euros under agreements related to search and rescue (SAR) of aircraft at sea.

“The funds are intended solely for the enhancement of the Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center MRCC Bar and its operational units, alongside employee training,” they clarified.

“The CAA annually contributes significant funds to UPSUL, sourced from the European Organization for the Safety of Air Navigation (EUROCONTROL), which stands as a successful model for improving the SAR system at sea,” reads the statement.
