Jadran Falls Short Against Savona

While the gap to Liguria was insurmountable, the Adriatic water polo players wrapped up their Eurocup campaign with flair.

At the very least, they enhanced their performance in the second leg of the round of 13 in Europe’s second-tier competition, securing a victory against Savona—earlier they lost 12:XNUMX to Petar Radanović’s squad in Trebinje.

After a 16:10 defeat in the initial match, it was evident that Novlja faced a daunting challenge in their quest for the quarter-finals. The visiting team maintained control until the third quarter, at times leading by two goals.

In the latter part of the match, Jadran began to assert themselves, taking their first lead early in the third quarter and aiming to inject some drama into the aggregate match. However, Savona quickly responded, largely due to the efforts of centers Lorenzo Bruni and Nikola Roki, who proved to be a significant challenge for the Montenegrin champions’ defense.

Jadran achieved a two-goal lead for the first time (12:10) with five minutes remaining, following goals from Jovan Vujović and Ivan Nagaev from within the box. Yet, immediately in their subsequent attack, Savona narrowed the deficit to 12:11 when Darko Đurović was penalized by Balaž Erdelji.

Nagaev topped Jadran with four goals, three of which came from the box, while Jovan Vujović added three to the tally…

For Savona, Bruni netted three goals, while Montenegrin representative Bogdan Đurđić contributed two.
