“It Would Have Been Preferable for Australia to Attend Instead of the USA”
The Montenegrin water polo team is faced with a challenging group at the Olympic Games in Paris. Given that they were drawn from the sixth, and final, pot, they weren’t expecting much better news.
The “Sharks” will compete in group A against Italy, Croatia, Romania, Greece, and the United States, aiming to secure one of the top four spots for a place in the Olympic quarterfinals.
“This Olympic tournament will be incredibly tough, and our options were limited. We would have preferred to face Australia instead of the USA, who currently appear to be stronger. All other teams are top-tier,” remarked head coach Vladimir Gojković, adding:
“We will have ample time to prepare and we cannot underestimate any opponent. However, we are justified in hoping to play competitive matches against every team in the group,” Gojković stated.
The water polo event in Paris is set to take place from July 28 to August 11.
