The Secretariat for Inspection Affairs of the Municipality of Pljevlja has urged residents in rural areas to report any illegal activities concerning the transportation of timber – roundwood.
“We particularly request information regarding processors and transporters who are illegally moving roundwood, as this is damaging rural roads. Reports can be submitted via phone: 068/451-462,” states the announcement.
According to local authorities, this issue will be addressed systematically, ensuring no individuals are exempt from scrutiny, and the condition of local roads will be diligently monitored.
“The Municipality of Pljevlja will implement all necessary actions to prevent further illegal activities and safeguard our villages’ infrastructure,” the statement from the Secretariat for Inspection Affairs reads.
This call to action follows a recent operation conducted by officials from the Secretariat for Inspection Affairs in the village of Mijakovići, where they received reports from locals about trucks transporting timber from nearby forests that were damaging village roads and violating municipal regulations regarding permitted axle loads on local roads.
The Secretariat confirmed that they had police support during this operation.
Dario Vraneš, the President of the Municipality of Pljevlja, stated at that time that he intends to put an end to the impunity of arrogant concessionaires and privileged individuals.
