An Easter Bazaar titled “The Light of Christ’s Resurrection” has been inaugurated at Nikšić’s Freedom Square and will run until April 27th.

The Mayor of Nikšić, Marko Kovačević, officially opened the bazaar, highlighting its humanitarian and traditional significance, which embodies the profound themes of unity and spiritual renewal.

“It’s perhaps fitting that this year’s event occurs during a time when much is being discussed about who is victorious. However, true victory, the kind that arises from love, unity, and kindness, awaits us on Sunday. This is the essence of Christ’s resurrection—the values that are eternal and can unite us all. I’m delighted that we continue in this spirit,” remarked Kovačević.

He expressed his wishes for a fruitful bazaar and successful product showcases for the exhibitors.

The hierarchal governor of Nikšić, Archpriest Stavrophor Boban Jokić, emphasized that Easter calls for purification, reconciliation, and love, stating that “the light of Christ’s resurrection serves as our life’s guiding star and measure for living.”

“Without the light and joy of Christ’s Resurrection, life lacks meaning. This fasting season and the significant Passion Sunday invite us to prepare and cleanse ourselves of negativity—evil deeds, damaging thoughts, and the bad that fills our hearts. Thus, we may embrace each other in love, entering into the spirit of Christ’s Resurrection and sharing the light received on that day throughout the rest of the holiday,” Jokić said.

He noted that the bazaar serves as a gathering point for people to reunite, converse, and socialize—encompassing the holiday spirit.

The opening featured around 20 exhibitors, local producers, and performances by the “Zahumlje” choir and soloist Mihaela Đurović.

Organized by the Municipality of Nikšić, the Church Municipality of Nikšić, the Tourist Organization (TO) of Nikšić, and the Public Institution “Zahumlje,” the Easter Bazaar promises a variety of engaging programs.
