The Montenegrin women’s U16 volleyball team has successfully qualified for the European Volleyball Championship.
In Maribor today, the Montenegrin team triumphed over Romania with a score of 3:0 (25:9, 26:24, 25:22) in the second round of the qualifying tournament. With this victory, they clinched one of the top two places in their group a round before the tournament’s conclusion.
This team, made up of players born in 2010 and later, is the first Montenegrin women’s volleyball squad to qualify for the European Championship.
Coach Petar Koković led the team to this historic win after just 75 minutes of play.
In their tournament opener, they also defeated Slovakia 3:0 (25:23, 26:24, 25:16). The Montenegrin volleyball team will wrap up the tournament with a match against Slovenia tomorrow at 17:30.
According to the tournament regulations, two teams from each of the five qualifying groups, along with the best third-placed team, will advance to the championship to be held in Tirana and Pristina from July 2 to 13.
