Persistent Misuse of the Judiciary for Political Gain

The President of Republika Srpska (RS), Milorad Dodik, commented on the issuance of an international arrest warrant against him, stating that the political misuse of the judiciary in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) persists.

“This is nothing new; the judiciary is being abused. The Muslim community in Sarajevo, along with the unconstitutional Prosecutor’s Office and the Court of BiH, are attempting to use it for their own purposes,” Dodik remarked from Jerusalem, where he is attending the Conference on Anti-Semitism, as reported by Radio Television of Republika Srpska (RTRS).

Dodik emphasized, “As much as this serves them, it will also serve RS, because this issue will gain international attention.”

“There’s no need for concern regarding such narratives; as the President of Republika Srpska, I primarily respect the resolutions of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska, which clearly outline our actions. Everything is transparent,” he added.

He reiterated that “the most important thing is Srpska,” referring to Bosnia and Herzegovina as a “failed state.”

The Court of BiH has officially reported that an international arrest warrant has been issued for Milorad Dodik and Nenad Stevandić, Speaker of the RS National Assembly.

This arrest warrant was initiated by the State Prosecutor’s Office, as both Dodik and Stevandić are accused of undermining the constitutional order of BiH. It is alleged that, utilizing their high-ranking positions in RS, they circumvented established border control procedures and left the country.

The BiH Prosecutor’s Office holds them responsible for “attacking the constitutional infrastructure,” deeming them, alongside RS Prime Minister Radovan Višković, most culpable for enacting laws that obstruct the operations of certain state judicial entities and the BiH Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) within BiH.

An original arrest warrant, applicable throughout BiH, had already been issued.
