Serbian Interior Minister Ivica Dačić commented on the request from the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina for Interpol to issue an arrest warrant for Milorad Dodik and Nenad Stevandić. He emphasized that both individuals are citizens of the Republic of Serbia and noted that the international arrest warrants referenced by BiH have yet to be evaluated by the Interpol General Secretariat for compliance with publication criteria, stating they do not warrant any action, as reported by N1.

“The Republic of Serbia staunchly safeguards the rights and interests of its citizens on both domestic and international fronts. We are dedicated to upholding the sovereignty and human rights of our citizens, as safeguarding each individual is foundational to our international obligations,” Dačić remarked.

He mentioned that, given their Serbian citizenship, Interpol Belgrade has submitted a protest note to the Interpol General Secretariat, arguing that the requests for international arrest warrants violate Article 3 of the Interpol Statute.

“The organization is explicitly prohibited from engaging in activities or interventions concerning matters that bear a political, military, religious, or racial nature,” according to the article.

He also indicated that the Interpol General Secretariat has acknowledged receipt of the protest note and will consider it, promising to inform Serbian authorities of the outcomes in due course.

“I want to stress that Serbia is committed to upholding international norms at all times, yet it will not permit any attempts by other states or international bodies to undermine the rights of our citizens. Serbia is determined to advocate for its rights and those of its citizens on the global stage, all while adhering to international legal frameworks and upholding its principles and values,” Dačić stated, as reported by N1.
