The payback for the earlier season loss was particularly rewarding as Budućnost Voli triumphed over Spartak in Subotica (86:82). The team remains at the pinnacle of the AdmiralBet ABA League, further establishing their most prominent trait: the spirit of a true champion.
The “Blues” discovered their path to victory despite facing adversity, having been down by 18 points in the second quarter. Kenan Kamenjaš clinched the win with just one second and seven-tenths remaining, securing the lead with a strategic play off an offensive rebound that brought the score to 84:82.
With this pivotal play, the Bosnian center capped off an impressive 11-0 run during the final four minutes, turning the game around after Budućnost was trailing 82:73. They narrowly avoided disaster when Rašir Bolton’s open three-pointer from the corner failed to find the net.
Rašid Sulajmon then made a crucial three-pointer following an offensive rebound from Podgorica, narrowing the gap to 82:76. Kamenjaš and Nikola Tanasković then chipped in to bring the score down to 82:79, before Sulajmon tied the game with another three-pointer.
Spartak faltered under pressure during critical offensive moments, and Kamenjaš paved the way for victory in an unexpected manner.
After those crucial points, Spartak coach Vlade Jovanović called a timeout to organize an assault that would send Dušan Miletić to the free-throw line, but Fletcher Maggi executed a crucial foul.
Maggi’s efforts paid off when the Spartak center missed both free throws, allowing McKinley Wright to seal the game from the charity stripe.
Budućnost now stands alone at the top of the ABA League, leading Partizan by a win, although the latter is set to face Mornar on Sunday at 5 PM.
