In Prijedor, located in the northwest of Republika Srpska (RS), recent reports indicate that 600 structures have been inundated, raising concerns about the escalating situation.
Boris Trninić, Acting Director of Civil Protection of Republika Srpska, confirmed to Klix.ba that there are currently no threats to life.
“Teams from the Republic Civil Protection Administration, equipped with multiple boats and personnel, are actively assisting local fire and rescue units in relocating residents from submerged homes to safer areas,” stated Trninić.
The most severe conditions are reported in the neighborhoods of Tukovi and Gomjenica.
Following an emergency meeting, Prijedor’s Mayor, Slobodan Javor, informed Radio Television of Republika Srpska about the challenging night caused by the Gomjenica River, which is currently at a level of 6.2 meters.
Last night, 12 locals were evacuated from the area.
At present, the situation remains critical at the Blagaj and Svodna stations, as the Sana River continues to rise.
Fortunately, the Una River is not currently threatening the railway infrastructure.
