Luka Bar has issued a public notice selling iron scrap, including transmission bridges, a cereal loading tower, and conveyor belts that were damaged in the storm earlier in July.

The estimated damage to the port is at least 35 million euros. All three bridges, which have been in place since 1977, collapsed due to severe winds. These bridges stood over 30 meters high and weighed more than 400 tons, according to reports from mining transmissions.

Bids for purchasing the damaged equipment will be accepted until August 13. The starting price for scrap iron is set at 150 euros per tonne, and as per the public notice, the entire quantity must be purchased, as partial sales will not be permitted.

The precise amount of scrap iron will be determined on-site, with representatives from both the seller and the winning bidder present during weighing.

The damage report indicated that the three overall bridges from CERETTI E TANFANI, each with a load capacity of 12 tons, have been completely destroyed and hold no further utility.

The cereal loading tower, capable of handling 300 tons per hour, is also fully degraded. Various components, including bolts for dry bulk loads and the conveyor belt for cereals, as well as the material handler, have sustained significant damage.

The government has approved a damage report, recognizing that the port cannot recover using its own resources alone. Thus, they are pursuing measures for urgent procurement and streamlining administrative processes to address these needs swiftly.

The government has tasked the Ministry of Transport and Maritime Affairs, in cooperation with the Ministry of Finance, to explore all available financial support options for the urgent rehabilitation of the damaged port facilities.
